Rotation idea
Keep one scent-based item in the active set and store the others. Swap rather than displaying every scented toy continuously.
A lack of interest does not mean the toy is defective. Try a different play function instead of repeatedly increasing scent exposure. Kittens and individual adult cats can also respond differently over time.
Scented toys can become less noticeable after being left out continuously. Airtight storage between rotations may help preserve scent. Follow product directions and keep loose plant material contained.
If scent-based play leads to very rough grabbing, guarding, or conflict in a multi-cat household, separate access and shorten sessions. Give each cat room to disengage.
A scent toy is still a toy. Durability, loose parts, seams, size and cleanability still matter.
