Maintenance matters
If an accessory is difficult to disassemble or clean, that inconvenience becomes part of its real cost.
Feeding accessories should be easy to clean and easy for the cat to use. Features only matter if they improve the daily routine rather than making cleaning or access more complicated.
Feeding & Water Accessories
Bowls and mats
Stable bowls and washable mats can simplify cleanup. Consider the cat’s posture and preference as well as the surface material and manufacturer care instructions.
Water fountains
Fountains require regular cleaning, filter maintenance and inspection of pumps and cords. Put electrical components where chewing is not possible and follow the manufacturer’s cleaning schedule.
Puzzle feeders
Puzzle feeders can combine food with activity, but difficulty should be introduced gradually. Food used in enrichment remains part of the cat’s diet, so follow veterinary guidance for portioning or special diets.
Placement
Cats may prefer resources separated from litter areas and, in multi-cat homes, more than one location can reduce competition.
