Direct chasing and pouncing toward toys rather than fingers, hands or feet. Interactive toys can create distance between the person and the moving target while still allowing social play.
Kittens may chew fabric edges, strings, foam, feathers and other materials. Check toys often and remove anything that is breaking apart. Keep string-like toys stored when you are not actively using them.
Low, stable climbing options may be easier to use safely than tall or unstable structures. As coordination changes, reassess the environment rather than assuming the first setup will remain ideal.
A few toys from different categories are enough to learn preferences. Rotate rather than leaving a large collection scattered throughout the room.
